The National Center for Biotechnology Information NCBI has created a database collection that includes several protein and nucleic acid sequence databases , a biosequence-specific subset of MEDLINE, as well as value-added information such as links between similar sequences. Because the need to transform data from one data model and schema to another arises naturally in several important contexts, including efficient execution of specific applications, access to multiple databases and adaptation to database evolution this work also serves as a practical study of the issues involved in the various stages of database transformation.

We show that transformation from the ASN. The value of metabolomics in translational research is undeniable, and metabolomics data are increasingly generated in large cohorts. The functional interpretation of disease-associated metabolites though is difficult, and the biological mechanisms that underlie cell type or disease-specific metabolomics profiles are oftentimes unknown. To help fully exploit metabolomics data and to aid in its interpretation, analysis of metabolomics data with other complementary omics data, including transcriptomics, is helpful. Legacy2Drupal - Conversion of an existing oceanographic relational database to a semantically enabled Drupal content management system.

Read full description of the books

Content Management Systems CMSs provide powerful features that can be of use to oceanographic and other geo-science data managers. However, in many instances, geo-science data management offices have previously designed customized schemas for their metadata. The goal was to translate all the existing database tables, input forms, website reports, and other features present in the existing system to employ Drupal CMS features.

Strategic use of some Drupal6 CMS features enables three separate but complementary interfaces that provide access to oceanographic research metadata via the MySQL database : 1 a Drupal6-powered front-end; 2 a standard SQL port used to provide a Mapserver interface to the metadata and data; and 3 a SPARQL port feeding a new faceted search capability being developed.

Incorporation of semantic technologies included in the future Drupal 7 core release is also anticipated. Using a public domain CMS as opposed to proprietary middleware, and taking advantage of the many features of Drupal 6 that are designed to support semantically-enabled interfaces will help prepare the BCO-DMO database for interoperability with other ecosystem databases.

Current Status and Perspectives. The preliminary online version of the database of the MAO NASU plate archive is constructed on the basis of the relational database management system MySQL and permits an easy supplement of database with new collections of astronegatives, provides a high flexibility in constructing SQL-queries for data search optimization, PHP Basic Authorization protected access to administrative interface and wide range of search parameters.

The current status of the database will be reported and the brief description of the search engine and means of the database integrity support will be given. Methods and means of the data verification and tasks for the further development will be discussed. Database technology affects many disciplines beyond computer science and business. This paper describes two animations developed with images and color that visually and dynamically introduce fundamental relational database concepts and querying to students of many majors. The goal is for educators in diverse academic disciplines to incorporate the….

Mapping medical knowledge into a relational database became possible with the availability of personal computers and user-friendly database software in the early s. To create a database of medical knowledge, the domain expert works like a mapmaker to first outline the domain and then add the details, starting with the most prominent features.

The intelligent database described in this article contains profiles of infectious diseases. Users can query the database for all diseases matching one or more specific criteria symptom, endemic region of the world, or epidemiological factor. Epidemiological factors include sources patients, water, soil, or animals , routes of entry, and insect vectors. Medical and public health professionals could use such a database as a decision-support software tool. PeptideDepot: flexible relational database for visual analysis of quantitative proteomic data and integration of existing protein information.

Unfortunately, this enhanced ability to acquire proteomic data has not been accompanied by a concomitant increase in the availability of flexible tools allowing users to rapidly assimilate, explore, and analyze this data and adapt to various experimental workflows with minimal user intervention. Here we fill this critical gap by providing a flexible relational database called PeptideDepot for organization of expansive proteomic data sets, collation of proteomic data with available protein information resources, and visual comparison of multiple quantitative proteomic experiments.

Our software design, built upon the synergistic combination of a MySQL database for safe warehousing of proteomic data with a FileMaker-driven graphical user interface for flexible adaptation to diverse workflows, enables proteomic end-users to directly tailor the presentation of proteomic data to the unique analysis requirements of the individual proteomics lab.

PeptideDepot may be deployed as an independent software tool or integrated directly with our high throughput autonomous proteomic pipeline used in the automated acquisition and post-acquisition analysis of proteomic data. Unfortunately, this enhanced ability to acquire proteomic data has not been accompanied by a concomitant increase in the availability of flexible tools allowing users to rapidly assimilate, explore, and analyze this data and adapt to a variety of experimental workflows with minimal user intervention.

In geology community, the creation of a common geology ontology has become a useful means to solve problems of data integration, knowledge transformation and the interoperation of multi-source, heterogeneous and multiple scale geological data. Currently, human-computer interaction methods and relational database -based methods are the primary ontology construction methods.

Some human-computer interaction methods such as the Geo-rule based method, the ontology life cycle method and the module design method have been proposed for applied geological ontologies. Essentially, the relational database -based method is a reverse engineering of abstracted semantic information from an existing database. The key is to construct rules for the transformation of database entities into the ontology. Relative to the human-computer interaction method, relational database -based methods can use existing resources and the stated semantic relationships among geological entities.

However, two problems challenge the development and application. One is the transformation of multiple inheritances and nested relationships and their representation in an ontology. The other is that most of these methods do not measure the semantic retention of the transformation process. In this study, we focused on constructing a rule set to convert the semantics in a geological database into a geological ontology. According to the relational schema of a geological database , a conversion approach is presented to convert a geological spatial database to an OWL-based geological ontology, which is based on identifying semantics such as entities, relationships, inheritance relationships, nested relationships and cluster relationships.

The semantic integrity of the transformation was verified using an inverse mapping process. In a geological ontology, an inheritance and union operations between superclass and subclass were used to present the nested relationship in a geochronology and the multiple inheritances. Understanding complex relationships among heterogeneous biological data is one of the fundamental goals in biology. In most cases, diverse biological data are stored in relational databases , such as MySQL and Oracle, which store data in multiple tables and then infer relationships by multiple-join statements.

Recently, a new type of database , called the graph-based database , was developed to natively represent various kinds of complex relationships, and it is widely used among computer science communities and IT industries. Here, we demonstrate the feasibility of using a graph-based database for complex biological relationships by comparing the performance between MySQL and Neo4j, one of the most widely used graph databases.

We collected various biological data protein-protein interaction, drug-target, gene-disease, etc. While Neo4j exhibited a very fast response for various queries, MySQL exhibited latent or unfinished responses for complex queries with multiple-join statements. These results show that using graph-based databases , such as Neo4j, is an efficient way to store complex biological relationships.

Moreover, querying a graph database in diverse ways has the potential to reveal novel relationships among heterogeneous biological data. Database management is an increasingly important part of astronomical data analysis. Astronomers need easy and convenient ways of storing, editing, filtering, and retrieving data about data. Commercial databases do not provide good solutions for many of the everyday and informal types of database access astronomers need. The Starbase database system with simple data file formatting rules and command line data operators has been created to answer this need.

Special features are included to enhance the usefulness of the database when manipulating astronomical data. Migration of legacy mumps applications to relational database servers. An extended implementation of the Mumps language is described that facilitates vendor neutral migration of legacy Mumps applications to SQL-based relational database servers. Implemented as a compiler, this system translates Mumps programs to operating system independent, standard C code for subsequent compilation to fully stand-alone, binary executables.

Added built-in functions and support modules extend the native hierarchical Mumps database with access to industry standard, networked, relational database management servers RDBMS thus freeing Mumps applications from dependence upon vendor specific, proprietary, unstandardized database models. Unlike Mumps systems that have added captive, proprietary RDMBS access, the programs generated by this development environment can be used with any RDBMS system that supports common network access protocols. Additional features include a built-in web server interface and the ability to interoperate directly with programs and functions written in other languages.

The BioImage Database Project: organizing multidimensional biological images in an object- relational database. The BioImage Database Project collects and structures multidimensional data sets recorded by various microscopic techniques relevant to modern life sciences.

It provides, as precisely as possible, the circumstances in which the sample was prepared and the data were recorded. It grants access to the actual data and maintains links between related data sets. In order to promote the interdisciplinary approach of modern science, it offers a large set of key words, which covers essentially all aspects of microscopy. Nonspecialists can, therefore, access and retrieve significant information recorded and submitted by specialists in other areas.

A key issue of the undertaking is to exploit the available technology and to provide a well-defined yet flexible structure for dealing with data. Its pivotal element is, therefore, a modern object relational database that structures the metadata and ameliorates the provision of a complete service. The BioImage database can be accessed through the Internet. Copyright Academic Press. By storing the line-transition data in a number of linked tables described by a relational database schema, it is possible to overcome the limitations of the existing format, which have become increasingly apparent over the last few years as new and more varied data are being used by radiative-transfer models.

Although the database in the new format can be searched using the well-established Structured Query Language SQL , a web service, HITRANonline, has been deployed to allow users to make most common queries of the database using a graphical user interface in a web page. The advantages of the relational form of the database to ensuring data integrity and consistency are explored, and the compatibility of the online interface with the emerging standards of the Virtual Atomic and Molecular Data Centre VAMDC project is discussed.

In particular, the ability to access HITRAN data using a standard query language from other websites, command line tools and from within computer programs is described. Relational databases for rare disease study: application to vascular anomalies. To design a relational database integrating clinical and basic science data needed for multidisciplinary treatment and research in the field of vascular anomalies. Vascular anomalies pose diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. Our understanding of these lesions and treatment improvement is limited by nonstandard terminology, severity assessment, and measures of treatment efficacy.

The rarity of these lesions places a premium on coordinated studies among multiple participant sites. The relational database design is conceptually centered on subjects having 1 or more lesions. Each anomaly can be tracked individually along with their treatment outcomes. This design allows for differentiation between treatment responses and untreated lesions' natural course.

The relational database design eliminates data entry redundancy and results in extremely flexible search and data export functionality. Vascular anomaly programs in the United States. A relational database correlating clinical findings and photographic, radiologic, histologic, and treatment data for vascular anomalies was created for stand-alone and multiuser networked systems. Proof of concept for independent site data gathering and HIPAA-compliant sharing of data subsets was demonstrated.

The resulting relational database software is a powerful tool to further the study of vascular anomalies and the development of evidence-based treatment innovation. The establishment and use of the point source catalog database of the 2MASS near infrared survey. The 2MASS near infrared survey project is introduced briefly. By using the system, one can not only query information of sources listed in the catalog, but also draw the plots related.

Moreover, after the 2MASS data are diagnosed , some research fields which can be benefited from this database are suggested. The evaluation criteria used to develop a benchmark specifically designed to test RDBMSs for libraries are discussed. Most systems still use relational databases RDBs , but as the number of data increases each year, the system handles big data with NoSQL databases to analyze and access data more quickly.

NoSQL emerged as a result of the exponential growth of the internet and the development of web applications. Data adapter allow applications to not change their SQL query syntax. In addition, the data adapter provides an interface which is application can access to run SQL queries. Hence, this research applied data adapter system to synchronize data between MySQL database and Apache HBase using direct access query approach, where system allows application to accept query while synchronization process in progress.

A web based relational database management system for filariasis control. The present study describes a RDBMS relational database management system for the effective management of Filariasis, a vector borne disease. Filariasis infects million people from 83 countries. The possible re-emergence of the disease and the complexity of existing control programs warrant the development of new strategies. A database containing comprehensive data associated with filariasis finds utility in disease control.

We have developed a database containing information on the socio-economic status of patients, mosquito collection procedures, mosquito dissection data, filariasis survey report and mass blood data. The database can be searched using a user friendly web interface. Biblio-MetReS is a data-mining application that facilitates the reconstruction of molecular networks based on automated text-mining analysis of published scientific literature. Homol-MetReS allows functional re annotation of proteomes, to properly identify both the individual proteins involved in the process es of interest and their function.

It also enables the sets of proteins involved in the process es in different organisms to be compared directly. The efficiency of these biological applications is directly related to the design of the shared database. We classified and analyzed the different kinds of access to the database. Different database technologies were analyzed.

Then, the same database was implemented by a MapReduce-based database named HBase. The results indicated that the standard configuration of MySQL gives an acceptable performance for low or medium size databases. Nevertheless, tuning database parameters can greatly improve the performance and lead to very competitive runtimes. Database constraints applied to metabolic pathway reconstruction tools. Protecting the ownership and controlling the copies of digital data have become very important issues in Internet-based applications.

Reversible watermark technology allows the distortion-free recovery of relational databases after the embedded watermark data are detected or verified. In this paper, we propose a new, blind, reversible, robust watermarking scheme that can be used to provide proof of ownership for the owner of a relational database. Our extensive analysis and experimental results show that the proposed scheme is robust against a variety of data attacks, for example, alteration attacks, deletion attacks, mix-match attacks, and sorting attacks. A blind reversible robust watermarking scheme for relational databases.

In the proposed scheme, a reversible data-embedding algorithm, which is referred to as "histogram shifting of adjacent pixel difference" APD , is used to obtain reversibility. Belgian health- related data in three international databases. Methods For the indicators present in the three databases , the availability of Belgian data and the source of these data were checked.

Main findings The most important problem concerning the availability of Belgian health- related data in the three major international databases is the lack of recent data. Especially recent data about health status including mortality-based indicators are lacking. Discussion Only the availability of the health- related data is studied in this article. The quality of the Belgian data is however also important to examine. The main problem concerning the availability of health data is the timeliness.

One of the causes of this lack of especially mortality data is the reform of the Belgian State. Nowadays mortality data are provided by the communities. This results in a delay in the delivery of national mortality data. However several efforts are made to catch up. Class dependency of fuzzy relational database using relational calculus and conditional probability. In this paper, we propose a design of fuzzy relational database to deal with a conditional probability relation using fuzzy relational calculus.

In the previous, there are several researches about equivalence class in fuzzy database using similarity or approximate relation. It is an interesting topic to investigate the fuzzy dependency using equivalence classes. Our goal is to introduce a formulation of a fuzzy relational database model using the relational calculus on the category of fuzzy relations. Using the fuzzy relational calculus and conditional probabilities, we introduce notions of equivalence class, redundant, and dependency in the theory fuzzy relational database.

Optical designers were among the first to use the computer as an engineering tool. Powerful programs have been written to do ray-trace analysis, third-order layout, and optimization. However, newer computing techniques such as database management and expert systems have not been adopted by the optical design community.

For the purpose of this discussion we will define a relational database system as a database which allows the user to specify his requirements using logical relations. The use of a relational database system containing lens prototypes seems to be a viable prospect. However, it is not clear that expert systems have a place in optical design. In domains such as medical diagnosis and petrology, expert systems are flourishing.

These domains are quite different from optical design, however, because optical design is a creative process, and the rules are difficult to write down. We do think that an expert system is feasible in the area of first order layout, which is sufficiently diagnostic in nature to permit useful rules to be written. This first-order expert would emulate an expert. The use of the Prolog programing language is promoted as the language to use by anyone teaching a course in relational databases.

A short introduction to Prolog is followed by a series of examples of queries. Several references are noted for anyone wishing to gain a deeper understanding. Compares and expands upon two approaches to dealing with fuzzy relational databases. The proposed similarity measure is based on a fuzzy Hausdorff distance and estimates the mismatch between two possibility distributions using a reduction process. The consequences of the reduction process on query evaluation are studied.

Discusses the use of state-of-the-art software tools in teaching a graduate, advanced, relational database design course. Results indicated a positive student response to the prototype of expert systems software and a willingness to utilize this new technology both in their studies and in future work applications. The relational database model and multiple multicenter clinical trials. The Southwest Oncology Group SWOG chose to use a relational database management system RDBMS for the management of data from multiple clinical trials because of the underlying relational model's inherent flexibility and the natural way multiple entity types patients, studies, and participants can be accommodated.

The tradeoffs to using the relational model as compared to using the hierarchical model include added computing cycles due to deferred data linkages and added procedural complexity due to the necessity of implementing protections against referential integrity violations. This data operations software, which is written in a compiled computer language, allows multiple users to simultaneously update the database and is interactive with respect to the detection of conditions requiring action and the presentation of options for dealing with those conditions.

The relational model facilitates the development and maintenance of data operations software. MPI allows an objective quantification of myocardial perfusion at stress and rest. This established technique relies on normal databases to compare patient scans against reference normal limits. In this review, we aim to introduce the process of MPI quantification with normal databases and describe the associated perfusion quantitative measures that are used.

Recent findings New equipment and new software reconstruction algorithms have been introduced which require the development of new normal limits. The appearance and regional count variations of normal MPI scan may differ between these new scanners and standard Anger cameras. Therefore, these new systems may require the determination of new normal limits to achieve optimal accuracy in relative myocardial perfusion quantification. Accurate diagnostic and prognostic results rivaling those obtained by expert readers can be obtained by this widely used technique.

Summary Throughout this review, we emphasize the importance of the different normal databases and the need for specific databases relative to distinct imaging procedures. Drug-induced toxicity related proteins DITRPs are proteins that mediate adverse drug reactions ADRs or toxicities through their binding to drugs or reactive metabolites. Collection of these proteins facilitates better understanding of the molecular mechanisms of drug-induced toxicity and the rational drug discovery.

These proteins were confirmed experimentally to interact with drugs or their reactive metabolites, thus directly or indirectly cause adverse effects or toxicities. Five major types of drug-induced toxicities or ADRs are included in DITOP, which are the idiosyncratic adverse drug reactions, the dose-dependent toxicities, the drug-drug interactions, the immune-mediated adverse drug effects IMADEs and the toxicities caused by genetic susceptibility.

Molecular mechanisms underlying the toxicity and cross-links to related resources are also provided while available. Moreover, a series of user-friendly interfaces were designed for flexible retrieval of DITRPs- related information. Supplementary data are available at Bioinformatics online. The representation of manipulable solid objects in a relational database. This project is concerned with the interface between database management and solid geometric modeling.

The desirability of integrating computer-aided design, manufacture, testing, and management into a coherent system is by now well recognized. One proposed configuration for such a system uses a relational database management system as the central focus; the various other functions are linked through their use of a common data repesentation in the data manager, rather than communicating pairwise to integrate a geometric modeling capability with a generic relational data managemet system in such a way that well-formed questions can be posed and answered about the performance of the system as a whole.

One necessary feature of any such system is simplification for purposes of anaysis; this and system performance considerations meant that a paramount goal therefore was that of unity and simplicity of the data structures used. The beginnings of this database originated from data invited speakers, participants, papers, etc. Unfortunately, not all HTML documents are well formed and parsing them proved to be an iterative process. It was evident at the beginning that if these Web documents were organized in a standardized way, such as XML Extensible Markup Language , the processing of this information across the Web could be automated, more efficient, and less error prone.

Historical seismometry database project: A comprehensive relational database for historical seismic records. The recovery and preservation of the patrimony made of the instrumental registrations regarding the historical earthquakes is with no doubt a subject of great interest. This attention, besides being purely historical, must necessarily be also scientific. In fact, the availability of a great amount of parametric information on the seismic activity in a given area is a doubtless help to the seismologic researcher's activities.

In this article the project of the Sismos group of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology of Rome new database is presented. In the structure of the new scheme the matured experience of five years of activity is summarized. We consider it useful for those who are approaching to "recovery and reprocess" computer based facilities. In the past years several attempts on Italian seismicity have followed each other.

It has almost never been real databases. Some of them have had positive success because they were well considered and organized. In others it was limited in supplying lists of events with their relative hypocentral standards. What makes this project more interesting compared to the previous work is the completeness and the generality of the managed information. For example, it will be possible to view the hypocentral information regarding a given historical earthquake; it will be possible to research the seismograms in raster, digital or digitalized format, the information on times of arrival of the phases in the various stations, the instrumental standards and so on.

The relational modern logic on which the archive is based, allows the carrying out of all these operations with little effort. The database described below will completely substitute Sismos' current data bank. Some of the organizational principles of this work are similar to those that inspire the database for the real-time monitoring of the seismicity in use in the principal offices of international research. A modern planning logic in a distinctly historical.

Italian Poison Centers answer to approximately , calls per year. Potentially, this activity is a huge source of data for toxicovigilance and for syndromic surveillance.

During the last decade, surveillance systems for early detection of outbreaks have drawn the attention of public health institutions due to the threat of terrorism and high-profile disease outbreaks. Poisoning surveillance needs the ongoing, systematic collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of harmonised data about poisonings from all Poison Centers for use in public health action to reduce morbidity and mortality and to improve health. The entity-relationship model for a Poison Center relational database is extremely complex and not studied in detail.

For this reason, not harmonised data collection happens among Italian Poison Centers. Entities are recognizable concepts, either concrete or abstract, such as patients and poisons, or events which have relevance to the database , such as calls. Connectivity and cardinality of relationships are complex as well. A one-to-many relationship exist between calls and patients: for one instance of entity calls, there are zero, one, or many instances of entity patients.

At the same time, a one-to-many relationship exist between patients and poisons: for one instance of entity patients, there are zero, one, or many instances of entity poisons. This paper shows a relational model for a poison center database which allows the harmonised data collection of poison centers calls. Mutagenicity and carcinogenicity databases are crucial resources for toxicologists and regulators involved in chemicals risk assessment. However, existing solutions for regression analysis, however, are either limited to non-standard types of regression or unable to produce accurate regression results.

Motivated by this, we propose the Functional Mechanism, a differentially private method designed for a large class of optimizationbased analyses. The main idea is to enforce differential privacy by perturbing the objective function of the optimization problem, rather than its results. As case studies, we apply the functional mechanism to address two most widely used regression models, namely, linear regression and logistic regression. This approach makes use of a carefully designed exploration tree structure and a set of novel techniques based on the Markov assumption in order to lower the magnitude of added noise.

The published n-grams are useful for many purposes. Furthermore, the author develops a solution for generating a synthetic database, which enables a wider spectrum of data analysis tasks. Furthermore, a cost-efficient mix-zones deployment scheme is presented to guarantee that vehicles at any place can pass through an effective mix-zone in certain driving time DT , and the extra overhead time ET of adjusting routes to across the mix-zone is small.

When it is used for OLAP queries these spatial information cannot be handled well. At the same time, the data always contains sensitive information, how to process spatial related OLAP queries in a differentially private way is a good question to be answered. However,MySQL storage engine can provide different technologies for different solutions so it can be more efficient and flexible. The difference of storage mechanism, index technology, lock and so on determines the variety of storage engine.

Evented-based co-occurrence pattern on hot regions. Abstract: Event-based social network is a new type of social network which contains both online social interactions and offline social interactions. It has many applications ,such as friends recommendation, advertisement delivery, social services and so on.

These information contains spatial-temporal pattern which may help us to provide better service and expand other applications. If we can do some work on these two things. It can surely contribute to society. Therefore we shall do some deep study on it. Proximity service is a popular kind of service which aims at finding other users nearby, such as reminding the user of her nearby friends or finding new potential friends nearby. We present a new kind of proximity service, i. Friend Recommender, to recommend nearby potential friends to the user.

In order to return more-satisfactory results, we consider the personal profile similarity of users. However, the service provider is untrusted, so it's necessary to protect user privacy, such as her location and profile, while enjoying proximity service.

We suggest two privacy protection technologies to protect location and profile privacy independently. Fiend Recommender can be executed on the processed data. Also make a simple introduction to our exsited lab systems. What's more, microblog has become one of the most popular social media with its own characteristics. The microblog data has the characteristics of real-time dynamics and content with a wide coverage, which make it possible for event detection and association analysis.

However, the characteristics of the microblog data, such as short texts, noise texts, rich social information, real-time dynamics and so on, also bring challenges. This report analyzes the existing work and proposes a novel event-detection and association-analysis algorithm. Abstract: Data store in the era of Big Data meet new challenges. The report gives a simple overview of this problem and introduces the Bigtable and Spanner. The existing non-blocking join algorithms can be categorized into two classes.

The first class aims to generate early representative results for OLA. It answers whether a vertex u can reach another vertex v using a simple path. Computing reachability has been studied in a wide range of computer science disciplines, including software engineering, programming languages, and distributed computing. Althrough, there have been lots of reachability labeling schemes, existing works don't consider the locality of queries. In this work, we propose a Query-depended reachability labeling scheme. There were three keynotes in CIKM of this year and some famous computer scientists were invited to give talks.

Many people from all over the world have attended this conference, which points out that CIKM has a significant influence on the field of computer science.

Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS)

Industry sessions are popular and some interesting talks are given. The MapReduce paradigm is good at large scale data processing and data intensive computing, but it can not support complex join operation, this flaw limits its spread application in many other fields. In this report we make a simple survey about the existing research works about Join using MapReduce, and give a detailed analysis on the similarity join using MapReduce.

We also introduce the primary idea of the high-dimensional data simialrity join using MapReduce, lastly we point out some challenges about join processing using MapReduce. HBase Coprocessor allows users to write their own codes without modifying the HBase source code and run them on the server side of HBase, such that users can enhance or shield the original functions of HBase. This report mainly introduces the concept, implementation and some typical applications of HBase Coprocessor. It is used widely in industries. Summer is drawing the near. The database that Wamdm will develop is also based on PG.

Memory management in PG is complicated. We will take more time to discuss MemoryContext and Cache. In addition to the excellent characteristics of flash memory, there is wealth internal parallelism in SSDs. Firstly, we detect internal parallelism of SSDs seemed as a black box. In order to solve this problem, some researchers have done some works.

All these data store is designed to store a large amount of data effeciently. This topic is to introduce some this kind of store. Although a variety of labeling schemes such as prefix-based labeling,interval-based labeling and prime-based labeling as well as their variants have been available to us for encoding static and dynamic trees, these labeling schemes usually show weakness in one aspect or another.

In this work, we propose a new triple labeling scheme, which is very simple but efficient. We discussed two kinds of way to improve the performance of DBMS ,which are using PCM as main memory and auxiliary memory, respectively. SCM blurs the distinction between main memory and storage, hence it brings huge impact on the design of database system. Furthermore, the reconsideration of the database system design based-on SCM is dicussed in this report. In these situations, most system needs to provide high throughput and low latency performance for storage.

So flash memory become the best choice as a non-volatile cache between RAM and hard disk. In this slides, we present two kinds of system designs called FlashStore and SkimpyStash. So it urge to put forward a kind of high efficient storage schema and query processing. However, as the Big Data emerges, scalability becomes one of the most important features in storing RDF. Facebook uses scribe for log collection and Calligphus is used for label the catergory of the logs and stored them into HDFS,Puma copies log line from storage system with Ptail and do aggreation operation and flush the aggregation results into HBase periodly.

We also presented Linking Open Data Project, which is a grassrot effort to publish open licence data on the web as linked data. We summarized this presentation with some research directions of linked data. RDF is g general data format, and provides a resource description framework. Therefore, it can be used for descripting anything in the world. Address mapping performs the virtual-to-physical address translations and hides the erase-before-write characteristics of flash.

Wear leveling methods can enhence wear evenness and improve the lifespan of flash memory. Therefor we conduct some experiments on SSD. After analysis,we get some common characteristics of SSD from the test, and we also discover others different and strange results. This method is graph-based and can overcome the vocabulary gap problem. However, those works all focus on some special attacks and cannot provide rigorous preservation. In this paper, a new problem of protecting degree sequence based on differential privacy is proposed.

However, the error of query result is large as well as the utility is low due to noise perturbation associated with real answer. For balancing privacy and utility, an effective and graphical inference technique is proposed. Based on the proposed inferring technique, and efficient algorithm GQODS is presented for this new problem.

It has been theoretically proven that the novel inferring technique and the proposed algorithm are correct. If a algorithm satisfies differential privacy, then it can ensure that the adversary cannot get any individual information. I introduced two papers for data mining under differential privacy. In this report, we mainly analysed the characteristics of the IoT data, the shortcomings of the existing cloud data management system and corresponding index solutions, and we proposed a new index framework in the cloud environment that can support high insert throughput and efficient multi-dimensional range query.

In this report, we discussed the challenges of implmenting OLA in the cloud, and tried to propose an initial solution. Computational processing can occur on data stored either in a filesystem unstructured or in a database structured. Nowaday, more and more application dealing with big data start to use mapreduce to solve problems. However, Geo-information presents new challenges for privacy preservation. This report made a close analysis of location privacy in Geo-Social networks and introduced possible solutions.

We analyze characteristics of Geo-SN and hidden location inference attacks, then we show a basic method of location privacy-preserving against hidden location inference attack. Cloud manages those databases and provides services to query users. However, cloud is a potential attacker, so it's important to address the issue of data privacy and query privacy leakage. Our work is to encrypt databases as well as queries in order to protect their privacy, and to design a proper query processing technique so that cloud could correctly process spatial keyword queries withoud decrypt databases and queries.

It bridges the gap between the virtual and physical worlds. This talk includes three parts. First, we give an introduction to geo-social network. Next, the existing research works is analyzed form the following perspectives: mining and recommendation of location and friends, friends locater and trajectory query.

Finally, the changeling works in the next step is presented. There are hundreds of companies busy studying on commerial non-structured databases,in the meantime we can see that it is great important to develop our own xml databse. So, when we process a query in XML database,it is more difficult to juadge the AD relationship between nodes. To deal with this problem, lots of labeling shemes are proposed for XML data. In this presentation, I introduces some labeling shemes for graph-structured XML data. Not only do the real-time distrubuted characteristics of posts in microblog provide a guarantee for event detection, but also they bring many challenges.

This report introduces the challenges of event detection in microblog, related works and some improved ideas. Finally, we proposed unsolved problems and challenges for Topic Detection and Tracking. Ousterhout and Fred Douglis. Nowadays, some key-value stores using log-structure, including Riak, RethinkDB and LevelDB, emerge with different log-structure implementations in many industrial applications. This report mainly describes knowledges about flash memory and SSD Solid State Disk , including the classification , performance, limitations and trends of flash memory, SSDs' architecture and interface types; In addition, this report also introduces some recent test results on our SSDs.

But compression play a most important role. It can improve the performance of column-store by an order of magnitude. Concidering these features of column-store, it can get much more improvement on flash. But flash has its unique features, so column storage should make some change to fit for flash. In general, the basic structure of IOT is divided into three layers: the RFID, sensor networks compose of the perception layer; Internet, Wifi, 3G and other networks form the network layer; In addition, the application for the various social needs construct the application layer.

The cloud computing, which is the key technology in the chain of IOT, will be an important cornerstone of the development of IOT. All these works assume that the attacks use the same background knowledge. However, in practice, different users have different privacy protect requirements. Thus, assuming the attacks with the same background knowledge does not meet the personalized privacy requirements, meanwhile, it looses the chance to achieve better utility by taking advantage of differences of users' privacy requirements.

In this paper, we introduce a framework which provides privacy preserving services based on the user's personal privacy requests. Though PAX have high performance of querying but not considering update operations. IPL and Append-only have high performance of update opreations but not considering quering processing, especially range querying. In this report we did a survey about the index techniques about Cloud Data Management and analysed the Pros and Cons of them, finally point the future work.

This seminar introduces Big data from the view of definition, framework, application, and challenges respectively. Since Big data differs from large-scale data massive data , new computing models, algorithms and storage strategies must be provided and designed. In this seminar, we mainly present three models for computing Big data, which are random sampling model, data streaming model, and sketching model.

This seminar mainly introduces two questions, one of which is privacy score computing in terms of individuals' profile, and MLE and EM methods are illustrated in this part. The other one is how to predicate the trust between entities by using balance theory and status theory. In this context, users often have similar interests for planning one or more social activities collaboratively. To answer TkSCo query efficiently, we propose two algorithm to slove this problm. Experimental results validate efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

Facebook, twitter, flickr not only offer us perfect platform to use,but also offer help for researchers to study. We can download many informations from flickr with its api, like tag tiltle picture, etc. At the moment researches based on flickr include flickr distance, tourism recommendation, use flickr to predict information or image retrival and so on Many new problems are arising. Reachability queries in graphs are fundamental to XML database. In this report, we introduce a noval compressed intervallabeling scheme to surpport the reachability queries.

However, this service leads to privacy leak in both query content and data. The first frame is based on Privacy Homomorphism, where clients lead query processing so as to protect query privacy and data privacy. The second frame is based on secret share scheme. Before outsourcing, data is divided into n shares by secret share function and stored in n DSPs.

In this way, the data privacy is protected. Appen-only is firstly proposed to implement in the key-value data management system. If we migrate the append-only storage method into DBMS, there will be many problems, such as Index and transaction and so on. Rollback and recovery are important components for transaction, so we propose improved flash-based rollback and recovery methods to speed up the recovery and rollback.

Moreover, I present the experimental results on the Sina data set. Since it is in memory Redis holds and deals with data, it can reach high performance. Due to the limited capacity and volatility of memory, Redis also support virtual memory management and data persistence. This ppt talks about the data procedure of Redis and a naive idea to improve the virtual memory management. We analyze the logging design issues in the flash memory based database and put forward some new solutions. The first method, HV-Logging, makes use of the history versions of data which is naturally emerged in flash memory duo to the out-of-place update.

In the second method, we proposed a novel logging method called LB-logging which using list structure instead of sequence structure of the traditional databases to store log records. In this paper, the author propose a new online aggregaion interface that permits users to both observe progress of their aggregation queries and control execution on the fly. Nowadays, location k-anonymity is the one of the most popular location privacy-preserving method, it requires a trusted third party as an anonymity server which is proved to be the performance bottleneck and aim point of attacks.

This lecture introduced a collaborative location privacy-preserving method without anonymity server and cloaking region. This theme includes 7 reports. One details road map of magnetic tape, magnetic disk, and a host of solid state technology. Three other papers are about data management on NAND flash. Two papers talk about software consequences of technology beyond flash.

One paper Investigates energy efficiency of current SSDs. In this report, we introduce how the existing methods solve the proble, and then we propose our intial idea about progress estimate. While it is becoming a nightmare for the user to find the desired apps from so many apps. So mobile apps searh and recommendation techniques are deserved to be studied. The author introduced the project from background, motivation, proposed solutions and some works done, and proposed some open questions at the end.

So what is Twitter? Besides, we reported a detailed comparison between Microblog Search and Web Search. In this report, we focused on the information diffusion on Twitter.
