According to this quote, it's basically saying that if you have a good name, people will see you as a good person. You would want to have a good reputation for yourself, not a bad one. You want people to look up to you and you'll also want people to look up to you as their mentor.

People clamor for cash, but have little or no concern or interest in the wisdom of God, or godly principles that can bless our society. We need the wisdom of God in our lives. Some of the most educated theologians can quote the Bible chapter and verse and recite the Greek and Hebrew meanings of words.
Yet they still lack the wisdom of God. Life is not a straight path from birth to death. There are twists and turns, detours and mazes, mountains and valleys. But, as believers, we have the blessing of divine help in making the right choices in life. Riches will not drive us deeper into God. When your eyes light on it, it is gone, for suddenly it sprouts wings, flying like an eagle toward heaven.
But you have dishonored the poor man.
A good name is more desirable than great riches
Are not the rich the ones who oppress you, and the ones who drag you into court? A rich man is wise in his own eyes, but a poor man who has understanding will find him out. Do not toil to acquire wealth; be discerning enough to desist. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God.
Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. Like a cage full of birds, their houses are full of deceit; therefore they have become great and rich; they have grown fat and sleek.
They know no bounds in deeds of evil; they judge not with justice the cause of the fatherless, to make it prosper, and they do not defend the rights of the needy. Whoever oppresses the poor to increase his own wealth, or gives to the rich, will only come to poverty. To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,. For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?
And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God. By your great wisdom in your trade you have increased your wealth, and your heart has become proud in your wealth—.
Greater Riches Than Wealth
Woe to those who join house to house, who add field to field, until there is no more room, and you are made to dwell alone in the midst of the land. There is a grievous evil that I have seen under the sun: riches were kept by their owner to his hurt,. Whoever is greedy for unjust gain troubles his own household, but he who hates bribes will live.
The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty. Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? Your children have forsaken me and have sworn by those who are no gods. When I fed them to the full, they committed adultery and trooped to the houses of whores.
They were well-fed, lusty stallions, each neighing for his neighbor's wife. For the protection of wisdom is like the protection of money, and the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it. A man to whom God gives wealth, possessions, and honor, so that he lacks nothing of all that he desires, yet God does not give him power to enjoy them, but a stranger enjoys them.
This is vanity; it is a grievous evil.
